<\/i><\/i><\/span>Challenges<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

As is mentioned, the cyclic loads result in fatigue in the furnace pedestals. Additionally, the bolts resisting these loads approach their point of failure over time, losing their load-bearing capacity. Moreover, various corrosion factors have also caused cracks on the concrete surface. In addition, the execution of the retrofitting beneath the furnaces involved various construction challenges, including low height, time limitations, and high temperature.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Solutions<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

After repairing the concretes using injection techniques, the FRP sheets were used along with the grooving method (GM) to retrofit the pedestals. This method, invented and patented by Koosheh experts, increases the loading capacity. Moreover, the concrete confinement method was applied to the pedestals to restore their strength. Finally, the concrete surface was coated using GRP to be protected against corrosion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Results<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

In addition to repairing the concrete surface, the reinforcement process increased the capacity of the pedestals to resist fatigue. Moreover, the concrete surface was fully protected against corrosion by applying a GRP coating.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
